Drum machine – Alzheimer’s and Lou’s voice

The other day, Lou and I recorded her making playful, rhythmic vocal sounds and turned them into a drum machine. It’s not the prettiest-looking patcher, but it was a joy to create.

Our sessions don’t always go as planned—I often adapt them based on Lou’s energy and attention span. This time, she was full of beans, coming up with funny, rhythmic sounds, which I recorded and transformed into a sequencer. The playback is randomized, but it could easily be linked to movement or gestures.

Most importantly, we had a great time—and that’s what really matters.
