Stranger Than Fiction – Update 2024 – adding sound
Finally, two years later after I completed the animation as part of my artist residency at the Morrab Library in Penzance, Cornwall, there is sound on the previous silent version.
The animation was originally created without sound, reflecting the quiet, serene nature of libraries. I imagined the library as a living entity, full of quirks and life, with its own unique character.
I created most of the sounds for Stranger Than Fiction myself, using REAPER, a powerful digital audio production tool (DAW) that allowed me to manipulate sounds and craft unique soundscapes. To speed up production, I also turned to FREESOUND, an incredible resource with thousands of sounds.
I’m grateful to the contributors who make their work available—their generosity certainly added depth to the animation’s audio world.
